BEDFORD – As many are still shocked by the tragedy at the Ohio State Fair this week, some locals are remembering the death of a young girl at the Bedford County Fair 40 years ago.
In 1977, 14-year-old Amy Gilbert was at the fair, on a ride called the Zipper.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — An Oakland, California, police officer was shot and killed Friday while answering a report of a burglary at a marijuana dispensary, authorities said.
Tuan Le, 36, was one of several who responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the cannabis business near Jack London Square at about 4:30 a.m., about 3 1/2 hours after an earlier burglary was reported at the same business, authorities said. Read More...
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. — An SCI Houtzdale inmate who was in prison for of rape of a child on a Montgomery County conviction was found dead in his cell Thursday evening, according to a press release.
The press release states that Roberto Quevada, 79, was serving a 15-to-30-year sentence and has been at SCI Houtzdale since January 6, 2009.
Scott Klinefelter, superintendent of the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale, reported that life-saving measures were performed on Quevada before EMS services arrived after he was found unresponsive in his cell. Read More...
