UPMC reports massive data breach, thousands of patients potentially affected

Pittsburgh, Pa (WJAC) — UPMC is reporting a massive data breach that likely affected more than 36,000 patients, according to a press release. Officials say the data breach was reported to them by Charles J. Hilton & Associates, who provides billing-related legal services to the health system, whose email system was reportedly hacked. An investigation reportedly revealed that some thousands of patients may have had their personal data, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, or bank or financial account numbers, accessed by the hackers. Westmont grad makes history at Military College

Cambria County, Pa. (WJAC) — It was a historic weekend in the military community. The Corps of Cadets for two senior military colleges -- Citadel and VMI -- are both commanded by women. Saturday morning, they got to meet each other for the first time during a parent's weekend, parade, and football game between the colleges. One of those women, Cadet First Captain Kasey Meredith (the Regimental Commanding Officer of the Virginia Military Commander Corps of Cadets) is from right here in Johnstown. Read More...
