Bellefonte man accused of repeatedly molesting young girl, PSP says

State police in Cambria County have filed charges against a Bellefonte man following a months-long investigation into allegations of sexual abuse.

Troopers say in September of 2021, police received a Childline report from an unidentified local school district after one of its teachers reportedly viewed an email that the victim was sending to another student.

According to the affidavit, the victim stated in the email that "she was tired of being mistreated and touched by her 'rapist uncle'."

Upon further investigation, troopers identified the man accused of molesting the girl as David Wance, now age 57.

Authorities say the victim told police that she had been repeatedly abused by Wance, and recalled one incident in which he reportedly assaulted her while he was watching pornography.

Police say the victim told investigators that Wance "made her feel uncomfortable" and stated that she would often wear "sweatpants and sweatshirts around him" instead of "more revealing clothing."

Investigators say the victim told police that she would tell Wance to stop but that he continued to molest her.

According to online court records, Wance was arraigned over the weekend on charges of aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, indecent assault, indecent exposure and child endangerment.

He is being held at the Cambria County Prison on $75,000 bail.
