Penguins re-sign forward Rickard Rakell to 6-year extension

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced late Monday that they have re-signed forward Rickard Rakell to a six-year contract extension, with an average annual value of $5 million per year.

Rakell was traded to Pittsburgh in March in a deal with the Anaheim Ducks, and record 13 points in 19 games with the Penguins this past season.

"Rickard proved that he is a great addition to our team this season," said GM Ron Hextall. "He brings versatility and offense to our lineup, and we know he will be an impactful player for us going forward."

Rakell has also scored 11 goals and 8 assists in 48 career playoff games.
