In its 29th year in uptown Somerset the Fire and Ice Festival is battling some challenges from the weather. Organizers said on Friday, the first day of the festival, fireworks had to be cancelled. PA to begin issuing Pandemic Emergency Unemployment benefits this week

HARRISBURG, Pa (WJAC) — The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced Saturday that it will begin issuing Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) benefits this week following the new extension of federal CARES Act funds. “Since receiving the information we needed from the federal Department of Labor two weeks ago, L&I has worked as quickly as possible to update our processing system so PEUC claimants can resume filing for benefits,” said Acting Secretary Jennifer Berrier.
